Imphal, December 18:
The 18 hours Manipur bandh called by the Joint Action Committee, JAC against the shifting of SSB/VVF from Manipur ended peacefully this evening.
The bandh began at mid-night yesterday.
The bandh moderately affected life particularly in the greater Imphal area.
With most passenger services suspended for the day, there was only light traffic on the major roads in the Imphal area.
Markets, shops and educational institutes were paralyzed and government offices were only lightly attended.
In the meantime, more than 500 womenfolk who were permitted by the JAC, gathered to pay floral tributes to the 18 martyrs at Kekrupat this morning at around 9.00 am.
The programme was organized by the All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Lup and continued till late evening.
The bandh was effectively enforced at the Monsangei area by the bandh supporters.

In the rest of the state, life was only marginally affected, except for road links with the state capital being cut off due to the suspension of bus services.
At Jiri, the bandh reportedly had no effect.
There is no any change in the normal life.
The passenger service of Jiri bound buses plied.
At Churachandpur, all the Government offices including private, educational institutes and market shops were normally opened but the employees from Imphal did not arrive at their offices due to the inter district bus service not being available.
