This research methodology writes how the people of Mantak village behave and spend their life. We could realize the culture of this particular tribe. The village is situated in the south western part of Kakching. The Mantak hills extend from the Sekmai barrage upto Tentha in the West. With reference to the census in 1991 there were 111 houses and 546 people in Mantak. The hills in Mantak include among others Jhanpilon, Lungmaiching, Susutang, Teraching, Achinglai, Khaisimkuk etc. with reference to the old books like Lamilton, Nongsaba Khungoiron, Ariba Manipuri Longei the writer describes how the village was known as Mantak. The traditional culture religion and social conditions of Mantak, the Kom tribe are chalked out. The rituals like Yum Changba, sha-hongba. Luhongba, Pukhri hongba are described in detail. The Mantaks of the Mantak village and the Meiteis inhabited around this village share in worshipping the Thangjing God. The songs sung during the festivals of Mantak are mentioned in detail. The games and sports include among others Kang Kapnaba, Phibul Habi, Kangjei Sarnaba, Keku Lotpi, Cheitek Kotpi etc. which are similar to the Meitei indigenous games. The writer describes even the musical instruments used by the Mantaks. The Mantaks have variety of musical instrument galore. The bands of wine used by the Mantaks include Waiyu, Yuting and Katei which are described by them. Indeed this book would be very useful to the researchers.
