All the types of yoga or the remaining schools of thought aim at the awakening of the divine mother.
A) In the kundalini yoga, the kundalini is awakened directly by a realized person either by one to one or by enmasse self-realization system for getting spandan.
B) In case of Hatha yoga kundalini may be awakened by the constant practice of the
i) Kriyas
ii) Asana (about 108 Yogasana) and
iii) cleaning excercise (neti, dhauti, kapala, Bhati tratak, Vajroli and Vasti).
It is to be practised under the supervision of a person who is well versed in the system otherwise there may be side effect.
C) In the case of Asthanga Yoga (Raja yoga) the awakening of Kundalini may take place by the 5 limbs
i) Yam (non-killing, non-stealing, non-receiving of any gift, continence, truthfulness
ii) Niyama (cleanliness, contentment, study, self surrender to God)
iii) Pranayama (control of Prana by different breathing techniques
iv) Pratyahara (Restrain of senses from their objects
v) Asana (about 108 yogasana).
Then the person may experience spandan thereafter he or she may go further 3 steps
i) dharana
ii) dhyana
iii) Samdahi
for proper sipiritutal growth.
What is the symptom of achieving yoga?
For the first time when kundalini is awakened a fraction of its energy passes through the above six chakras and unite with all pervading power of God or cosmic energy. This individual person will experience cool breeze of Holy ghost or vibration or spandan in the palm of both hands and in limbic area. It is the proof of awakening Kundalini and attainment of yoga, the status is called yogam (self-realization).
This day of the union is the second birth of the individual. It is known as dwija. In sanskrit a bird is called dwija, The life of a bird is the transformed state from the egg. In the Mahabharata, Acharya Dron is also known as Dwijottama (best of the twice born). - Bh. Gita-I/7
Benefits of Yoga
Yoga enlightens the lamp of knowledge. Yoga brings Atma to radiate like a flame.
It will help in crossing the ocean of sansara, bondage of birth and death. Without yoga the law of karma and Prarabdha will always reamain unavoidable predominate. Yoga is also just like a raft of a boat on water. By yoga the primordial energy will work like the best medcine. As divine mother she will be the best doctor and the best guru.
Now, let us assume yoga in mathematical form as yoga is achievable and verifiable :- X +Y Z (A, B, C, D, nth) In this set theory the domains of A, B, C, D nth are the benefits and siddhis (accomplishment and supernatural power).

What is self-realization / self knowledge (yogam)?
What is the goal of self realization?
Vedanta states that Brahman and Atma are one and the same, the knowledge of this nondifference is called self-realization (self-knowledge)which confer upon men the boon of liberation from the bondage and suffering of the world. Adi Sankaracharya "When they intellect-tossed about by the conflict of opinions (of Vedas) has become immovable and finnly established in samadhi (in the self) then thou shall achieve self-realization". Bh. Gita 11/53
Till self realization one is governed by ego and super ego, mind and senses, after self realization, self takes over and leads to the kingdom of God (Bhagavan ka sabha) . Self realization is the beginning of evolution from the human being to divine and will culminate in God realization.
Self realization is the key to all knowledge and power. A self realized person lives like a Jiban Mukta. No karma can bind him again, although he is performing karma till death. "One who has acquired the knowledge of supreme spirit becomes a wise one, hence-forth no more rebirth is required to perform any other duty as one has accomplished the duty. Bh. Gita-XV/20
Without self-realization the vicious circle of birth and death (Avagaman Chakra) will continue as the law of nature, a dictum, and the person undergoes knowingly or unknowingly, till Liberation (Mukti).
