Workshop: The aim of the workshop is to introduce the fundamental concepts in certain
key topics in Probability through lectures and tutorials given by a group of experts, in a
manner accessible to final year M.Sc. students, Research scholars (at initial stage). It
may be beneficial also to college/university teachers involved in teaching and/or research
in Mathematics/Statistics in North East region.
Topics to be covered: Following a brief and quick review of basic Probability theory, the main topics aimed to be covered are Simple Random Walk, Poisson Processes and
Markov Chains.

Prof. Parthanil Roy (Indian Statistical Institute)
Prof. Alok Goswami (Indian Statistical Institute)
Prof. Santanu Dutta (Tezpur University)
Travel and accommodation: All the participants will be provided TA (Bus fare) and Free Hospitality in TU campus. Attempts would be made to also give each participant a
copy of the full notes for the lectures given at the workshop.

Application & selection: Applications are invited in plain paper forwarded by Head of the Department, along with the Xerox copies of B.Sc. and M.Sc. marksheets. Applications will be subjected to screening by the organizing committee.
