Waiting for Class XII exams result : Destination outside Manipur
- The Sangai Express Editorial :: April 27 2018 -
Class XII results likely by April 30.
Surely this piece of information must have set the heart racing of a good number of students, parents and guardians though for different reasons.
To the bright and diligent students, this will mean eagerly waiting for the results to come out so that they do know how they have fared in probably one of the most important exams in their life and to the below average students or those who did not bother to put in the required work for the exams, this could be a tense moment, hoping against hope that they do manage to make the cut and be included in the list of successful students.
And again here it is important to keep in mind that the understanding of success will vary from students to students.
So to the diligent students who burnt the midnight oil and toiled for days, just passing will not be enough for what they will be looking forward to is see how they have fared vis-a-vis the other students, while to the mediocre students it could mean getting a certain percentage of their target.
Again to many of the bright and meritorious students, the Class XII exam results could just be the stepping stone towards their goal in life with many of them preparing for competitive exams such as NEET and JEE.
For those who opted for Commerce and Arts stream, it could mean getting admission into some of the more prestigious colleges of the country.
Herein lies the importance of the Class XII exams for what professional course one pursues or college one gets into will help the young students pursue their dream.
As in the past years, one can expect thousands of young students from Manipur to queue up for colleges based outside the State.
This is a point which has been repeatedly stressed in this column and while the need to expose the young students to the outside world cannot be overlooked, one nevertheless need to question why many feel it compulsory to send their children outside the State once they have finished their Class XII.
Moreover not all the students from the State will get into the top notch colleges in some of the metros of the country and many of them will have to settle for colleges which are obviously below par.
However it is more than clear that to many parents and elders, any college outside Manipur is preferable to the colleges based in Imphal and this is a point which should wake up the consciousness of all concerned.
It is not that the colleges in Imphal are mediocre or below par.
It has got more top do with the overall situation, wherein students are not given the freeway to pursue their studies without disturbance.
Just think over it.
Has the right environment been created for the young students to pursue their studies without interference from any power blocks and to develop their personalities ?
All these are questions that need to be asked sincerely and honestly.
