Voices from beyond Kangleipak Ema
Bharati Yumnam *
Ema.
I haven't heard from you recently.
But I, am not fine.
I was sent away from you
To seek exposure and tame my passion,
Te recieve education from leading institutes
And bring home glory and success.
But I am not able to concentrate.
Back home, my brothers are fighting for us
My sisters are shouting words for home,
Ema-Ebens protesting for you; Iramdam Ema.
But somewhere, the insanity has consumed them,
Making them forget that we are in Meeram,
Vulnerable to threats and open attacks.
Discrimination and biased-decisions.
Snatching another's possession won't bring a solution.
What is our government who have promised to be our Epa,
To serve you with dignity and law, doing for the stand?
Has he ordered any solution?
Or is he remaining numb as if he isn't a part of you?
Ema, me and my friends are not having a good time.
We feel eyes on us whenever we step out.
Where do we go from here if we are chased so,
And they block us with no way out from the chaos?
How can we forget how our Echil-Enaos
Residing in Delhi, Bangalore and other parts
Were assaulted and chased to fall down to your feet.
I remember very vividly, how frightened you were back then.
Also, how we are constantly looked down and treated badly
Here and there and everywhere.
Why shall we take chances for the history to repeat again?
How can we treat the fire if we start another by it?
How can we bring harmony if we answer stones with bricks?
Where has yors lessons on humanity gone?
I am not asking anyone to sit and watch the dramatic extravaganza.
But isn't now the time to put in to practical use,
Our educational values and social brains?
Please ask the people back home to be wise
And not lose the caliber of humanity
Out of aggression or disguise.
Please convey our Epa to bring an end to this.
Don't forget, we residing beyond your boundaries
Are also your children.
The comforts of home is only understood when away.
We miss you everyday.
But we miss the serenity and peaceful essence in you, more.
