Trusting Him

One of the hardest things for humanity to do is to trust in Him. We love to pollute the spiritual atmosphere with our fleshly prayers. You know the human side of us that whines for our own ways and personal desires. These prayers create smog in the spiritual air and prevent the Lord from doing what is best for us.
"Thy Kingdom Come" is a prayer totally devoid of our own selfish desires. It is like a cold wind blowing over the land. It clears away the dust and smoke of our desires and unbelief. It opens the way for the purpose of the Lord to be done in us, through us, and around us.
Our prayer should release the power of Christ to have His way. In our hearts of hearts, we can often hear the Lord praying through us. These prayers bring comfort, true exhilaration, and hope. We hear Him calling out of His Father, "Not My Will" but your will be done. There is no question that the most God-moving prayer we can pray is for His will to be done in our lives and in those around us.
But our tradition of prayer is somewhat different. The first ten minutes is usually spent in a counseling session. We are counseling the Lord about what the problem is and what we want Him to do about it. Then we follow this counseling time with a plea for Him to accept our analysis of the situation. Then we ask Him to do what we have decided is the correct course of action-of course, according to our plan.
We clutter the air with prayer born out of frustration, fear, and uncertainty, as though He needs our wisdom and advice about how to deal with an issue. Then we pray all these things in the Name of Jesus. We are certain that if we pray in the Name of Jesus, He will do exactly what we want Him to do. After all, we prayed in His name. But the Name of Jesus is not magic. His name cannot be used to invoke the power of God to do the will of man.
When we pray in the Name of Jesus, you are praying in the name of the king. You are praying as a messenger of the will of the king. You are announcing something to the world, both natural and spiritual, that the king wants to happen.
Those who pray in the Name of Jesus, the King, are like medieval criers who walked the highways of the kingdoms announcing the will and intentions for the king who rules the kingdom. "In the name of the King, vacate these premises, for the King will build a new castle here!"
The crier cannot cry out unless he had heard the king who sent him. If he has not heard the king, he has nothing to shout out. Many prayers are hollow and empty because they are not prayers at all. They are our own hopes and desires that we are passing off as the decree of the King except they are spoken without authority or conviction. No one is moved by them, certainly not God.
Everyone believes the crier because he comes in the Name of the King. "In the name of the King, all subjects must be on the castle grounds for the coronation of the new queen. In the name of the King, all are expected to attend!"
The one who is pronouncing those words is representing the King. He knows the will of the King and is announcing His will with authority and assurance. He is merely voicing the desire and intentions of the king.
"I come in the name of the King" is the testimony of the medieval crier.
There is only one way the crier can come through town announcing with confidence in the Name of the King. He must truly have been in the King's presence. He knows what he is supposed to say because he heard it from the king's lips for himself. Those who have heard the King for themselves will recognize His voice in the words of the crier, and they will be quick to respond to the message he brings to them.
When you hear the voice of the King, you can announce His will with confidence. The Lord awaits those who will hear His voice. He has wonderful dreams to bring to pass-the dreams He has dreamed for you.
This is the secret to having every prayer you utter answered. Listen carefully to hear what Jesus is praying. Then join in His prayer tour Heavenly Father, who is waiting for the prayers He will most certainly answer-His own.
THY WILL BE DONE IN OUR LIVES!
