"Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words can help to heal you"
We live in a world where too many people see others as problems and problems as something to hate. People are fortunate if they have someone in their lives blessing them with the soothing power of affirming words; words which will assist them in their journey through this life. Negative, accusing words sometimes hurt us, but reassuring, hopeful words possess the dual capacity to mend and restore us, it is the latter that comfort us.
What are the medicinal powers of word? Words can act as an agent for healing both the mind and the body. It is a fact that patients show faster and reliable responses to treatment when seen by a doctor with a good bedside manner. Good manners involves using words and gestures that both soothes and empower patients.
Soothing words help people who are too sick to address their fear, lift off doubt, accept their fate, return to their dreams, see the bright side of things and reconnect with hope. Empowering words help patients feel like valued resources, part of the team, and separate beings from their problems.
I am sure you can recall a few occasions when you lay in bed as a child, congested and coughing, running a slight fever. No doubt you felt terrible, maybe even afraid, but your mother's or father's loving words calmed you.
We can recall some of the words mothers used to speak to us when we fell ill, rejected, defeated or guilty. In rearing my own child, I find myself repeating a lot of these phrases and realized the soothing effect of those loving and soothing words which eased my troublesome emotional and physical conditions.
*Words that comfort us when we feel ill.
Mama's here!
Everything's going to be all right.
Mama's not going to let anything happen to you.
*words to empower us when we feel defeated.
Just remember God will always love you.
Don't worry, together we can make it.
Sometimes life is a struggle. That's why God made you so strong.
God won't give you something that you can't handle.
*Words that rescue us when we feel guilty.
God's always ready to listen
God knows that you are not perfect
Try not to be so hard on yourself
You can't live in the past. Forgive yourself and move on
You have a beautiful spirit. Don't weigh it down by feeling sorry for yourself.
WHO NEEDS MEDICINAL WORDS FROM YOU?
When we consider that most people spend more time with the people they work with than the people they live with, we realize how important it is to love the people in our working world. Would it surprise you to know that the medicinal power of Mama's words can also work wonders in the workplace?
All of us have benefited at one time or another from medicinally powerful words. How is it then that business leader have not learned to incorporate into the workplace what has worked so effectively at home? For example, suppose senior management directed every manager and front-line employee to come up with ten medicinally powerful phrases that someone used to soothe the pain they felt during a difficult period in their lives …
The nature of medicinal words and phrases is that they lead to immediate action and always inspire the sender and receiver of the message to be loyal to the values represented by the words of the phrases.
People are never what they do. When we treat them as guests, what they do gets done much better.
Aren't you more motivated to work hard for someone who respects and believes in you than for someone who never has a good word for you? If you believe this, then 'Live It'!
LIVE UP TO YOUR WORDS!
