Thadou Students' Association : TSA-D&NCR Annual Meet at New Delhi on 27 September, 2014
The Thadou Students’ Association, Delhi & NCR (TSA-D&NCR) organized its first Annual Meet yesterday i.e, 27th September, 2014 at MTNL Hall, Sector 6. RK Puram, New Delhi, after its re-formation on the 10th May, 2014
The programme was held in two sessions, the first, formally with speeches and songs, and the later with an entertainment programme. The programme was attended by more than 500 people from the Thadou community, making the hall jam-packed. The first session started at 11:00 AM with an invocation by Rev. Dr. Paokhosei Kipgen.
The event was graced by the Thadou Tribe Council, General Headquarters (TTC-GHQ) and Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) & Bengaluru (TSA-B). Mr. T. James Singson, IRS (Jt. Commissioner of Income Tax, GOI), Mr NG Sitlhou, Colonel (Retd.) and Mr. Thangtinlen Haokip (TTC-GHQ) also graced the function as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively. Pu James J.T. Thadou (Vice President/Chief Organizer, TTC-GHQ) enlightened the audience giving a short but valuable and informative speech on the term “Thadou” and the Thadou people.
Various performances like dancing, singing, etc. were presented by bands such as “We the Root” Band, Boithang & Co., Miss Alice Kipgen, the talented young hip hop dancer, and popular Artistes like Silas Khaiminlun Haokip, Thangboi Singsit, David Mate, Benjamin Kipgen, Miss Mawi Singson, Mrs Nengpi Haokip, Miss Themnu Singsit etc. bringing the crowd to their feet and swinging with the beat of the songs. Dignitaries from TTC-GHQ, TSA-GHQ, TSA-B and Kuki Inpi Delhi gave encouraging and valuable speeches.

The most awaited event of the day, the selection of the Best Thadou couple came alive with the compere of the evening Gl. Henry Lhouvum calling the contestants on stage with their various Thadou traditional attires greeted by loud cheers, clapping and whistling from the enthusiastic crowd.
The contestants walked the stage displaying their dresses describing verbally the names and how these dresses came into being and on what occasions the Thadou wear them. Mr. Alan Sang and Miss Chamkim Hangshing walked away with the best Thadou Couple Title with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.
The First and second runners up titles went to Mr. Laljemkai Touthang and Miss Sylvia Singsit, Mr. Kamminthang Doungel and Miss Neiboi Haokip with cash prizes of Rs.7000/- and Rs.5000/- respectively. Six couples were given consolation prizes of Rs. 400/- each. The sponsors Mrs Mawi Sitlhou (Best Thadou Couple of the year), Mrs Lhingboi Chongloi (first runners up) and Mrs Boishi Singson (Second runner up and consolation prizes) handed out the prizes.
The programme ended with Pastor Angam Haokip thanking the Lord for making the Annual Meet a huge success and asking the Lord to bless the grand feast that awaited all.
