Platform Architect – Core
Band: 3B - Manager

Responsibility
Core Platform Architect is responsible for architecting and maintaining the Base Core platform. He/she is expected to help create a very performing and highly scalable architecture for the Base Core platform, using the latest (stable) technologies available in open-source market. He/she is also responsible for defining the technical roadmap of the product, realize the same and continuously keep updating it to keep the product updated with the technology trend and evolving product requirements.

General
o BS/MS in Computer Science (CS, IT or other related streams only would be considered).
o At least 8 years of hands-on Software Architecture, Design, and Development experience using Java technologies from Product Engineering companies / divisions.
o Desired candidate must be a self-motivated, creative, and innovative individual with good communication skills. He/she should be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
o Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team member.

Skills and Experience
o Proven experience in architecting and delivering large, real time, mission critical enterprise applications based on Open-source platforms.
o Candidates must have exceptional knowledge of the Java platform, especially in areas of concurrency, NIO, and collections. They must have strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
o Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in creating performing, highly scalable and distributed middle tier frameworks, preferably using event-driven architecture and making use of EAI / SOA / JEE patterns extensively.
o Strong concepts in concurrency control and transaction management in distributed systems.
o Previous exposure to Service design, Messaging, Event Processing (preferably CEP) and related technologies is mandatory.
o Hands-on experience with at least one open –source Workflow Management (or BPM) and one Rules framework/tool.
o Experience with NOSQL databases (like MongoDB or CouchDB), massive cache implementation (like Memcached, Redis or Infinispan), Cloud implementation, and distributed storage frameworks (like Hadoop) are very much desired.
o Strong design and development experience using popular Spring Middleware (like Spring Data, Batch, and Security), Application Server and Enterprise Service Bus (like Mule).
o Must have hands-on experience with popular JEE frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, etc. Candidates must be very comfortable using XML and related technologies.
o Strong analysis and design skills. Candidates must be able to visualize and depict any problem using UML models in most efficient and elegant manner. Previous experience in using UML tools like Sparx Enterprise Architect, IBM Rational Rose Suite, etc. is very much desired.
o Candidates are expected to have experience with Agile Scrum.
o Experience with performance engineering and tuning large and complex applications is desired.
o Candidates are expected to be familiar with Linux/Unix based environment.

Skills and Experience

o Solid understanding of SQL Query plans, Query profiling, Index tuning and optimization. Strong database debugging skills.
o Should have sound understanding of entire of data life cycle management – Archival, Purge and data maintenance plans.
o Should be well versed with Sharding and partitioning strategies and techniques.
o Good experience on opensource OLAP cubes like Jasper, Mondrian will be strong positive
o Experience integrating APIs to get at internal or external sources of data
o Previous experience setting up reporting platforms enabling your customers to easily analyze data

Solution Architect

Responsibility
Solution Architect is responsible for providing solution architecture for Base product implementations. He/she is expected to help create performing and scalable implementation architecture for Base customers, using appropriate extension points in the Product platform. He/she is also responsible for making sure that the customization architecture never goes out of sync with the product, and any changes made in the product can be easily implemented downstream. At the same time, he/she is expected to identify new product features and feed them upstream to the Product platform team.
