Tactics to compromise modesty - condemned the act of Police personnel on the pretext of Security
30 November, 2013:
Manipuri Muslim Online Forum strongly condemn the high headiness act of Security forces who forced Ms. Anwari Noorjahan, President of United Manipur Muslim Women’s Development Organisation (UMMWDO) to uncover her head or rather hijab in the pretext of security concern. The action of the security force is not seen as an act of intelligent people. Being an Indian, one must know the constitutional rights given to the citizen of India. Every citizen of India has the right to practice, propagate his or her religion and Right to Religion is 4th Fundamental Right of Indian Constitution.
It is really shame to remind that even the Sanagi Festival promotional hoardings and poster has the picture of two girls with full hijab sitting with folding hands seeking blessings from Allah (GOD) as representation of Muslim’s (Pangal ethnic group) presence in Manipur. But when this is practiced really, the security force is obstructing. This is really double standard. What heart intends has to be shown in practice.
The concerned authority should shun all such activities of fooling people. As proverb says “Masak Thiba Meeda Masak Thee Hairabadi Shaoee Adugumna, Minority People Da Nahak Minority Ni Eikhoina Haiba Khuding Eengadabani Amadi Minority Ni Haina Hanna Hanna Realise Touhallabadi Eikgoi Nungaifam Thokte”.
Majority people are like big brothers, father or mother. If they do not take care the concerns of their children, brothers, the future is nowhere. In a state, if majority attains 100% development and minority remain underdeveloped, the state won’t ever get the status of developed state. We (Meeties and Muslims) eat the same crop, drink water from the same rivers and breathe the same air. As a matter of fact Meeties and Muslims are the two eyes of the beautiful bride that is Manipur. Weakness of any one of them will spoil the beauty of the bride (Keina).
The security person needs to be imparted knowledge on modesty. The crime against women is alarmingly increasing and it is not because of evil intention of the opposite sex only but also because of many surrounding factors. The modesty is losing every day and immodesty is become trendy. Instead of giving Ms. Anwari Noorjahan a big clap for promoting modesty in such environment, she has been victimised.
All right thinking persons and organisations especially women organisations should back Anwari Noorjahan’s decision for upholding her modesty.
We do acknowledge the requirement of checking each and every person entered in the Festival Complex for security purpose but no Rule or act allows a woman to be checked by a male when it concerns modesty. There should be separate covered area for both male and female to remove extra cloths if exceptionally required. The case of Anwari Noorjahan may be seen as exceptional case. There may be many such women in the festival who might have even agreed to uncover their heads in front of male security personnel but that should not be taken as granted for all. As there are women not following what religion say, there is right to practice and we should respect those who are religious.
Manipuri Muslim Online Forum demand unconditional apology from the concerned authority or the personnel to Ms. Anwari Noorjahan who has been victimised of following her instinct which is also permitted by law of the land. And also appeal to all Muslim brothers and sisters to take extra care while going out in such festivals and functions. THERE MORE GOOD PEOPLE THAN BAD PEOPLE IN OUR STATE BUT ONE BAD INCIDENT MAY SPOIL ONE’s LIFE.
