Sweet success and spoiler

The success of Kangabam Alex of Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai, who tops the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-dental Entrance Test-2014 conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for the State of Manipur; is not a mean achievement and it should be a source of inspiration to all of us, not just among the medical aspirants.
Coming from a poor family and losing his father early in life, thus, having only his widowed mother, who goes around seeking job in other people’s houses as domestic helper to support him - emotionally, physically and financially, anybody could guess how Alex must have struggle at every step of his academic career.
The path to the success of Alex must have been strewed with numerous hardships that were at time very difficult for a young boy to overcome. Yet, he did not lose his heart and faith in himself.
Clearing the pre-medical entrance test for taking up medical studies in life is a dream of many students in the State and many a student have to bury their dreams as they could not clear it even after repeated attempts and huge financial support from their well-to-do parents, who send them to every possible coaching centres.
But here is a boy, who, in spite of all the odds conspiring against him, has not only clear the test in his first attempt itself but also comes at the top. This is what makes the success story of Alex so inspiring.
It is good to know that dilemma that the mother of Alex was having over thinking where she should go for seeking more works to earn money and see her son become a doctor has been resolved completely after some philanthropists come forward voluntarily to help the young boy to fulfil his dream of becoming a doctor so that he could in turn help people in need.
This humanitarian gesture must have come as a great relief not only to Alex but also to his poor mother, who, instead of being able to feel happy over the commendable achievement of her son, had been apprehensive about the huge expenses that would be required in admitting her son to a medical college even though Alex has been qualified to study in any of the Medical Colleges under the State quota.
Apart from these philanthropists, who have come to the rescue of the young achiever first of all, we are quite surely that many more people and social organisations, if not the concerned Government Department or agencies, would also be coming up voluntarily in the days to come to help the boy with financial support or to host various felicitation functions in his honour.
All that we would like to caution here is that such open show of financial support and accolades should not try to divert the attention of the young boy from realising his dream as had happened in the case of some young student toppers in the past, who are not heard of anymore today.
That would be real spoiler to an inspiring success story.
Instead of handing over hard cash and bank cheques in the hands of the young boy, it would be better to open a bank account or corpus fund in his name so as to meet his financial requirement for the medical study.
