Spelling out pratical plans : Pragmatic, not over the top
- The Sangai Express Editorial :: May 29 2019 -
Develop the National Sports University, the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi some time back.
Further develop Imphal International Airport and increase the number of flights from and to the said airport. Roads on either side of the banks of Imphal River from Lamlong to Lilong.
Develop a waterway in Imphal River by blocking the river current and raise the level of the water to a certain level.
Develop a healthy ecosystem on the banks of Imphal River along the line of Yamuna Biodiversity by planting fruit bearing trees and flowers suitable to the soil of the land.
A floating market at Loktak Lake apart from developing a wetland park.
These are some plans which BJP MP elect Dr RK Ranjan spelt out in an exclusive chat with The Sangai Express and it is significant to note that these are all doable plans.
No shouting from atop the roof of victory, no outlandish plans.
All practical and something which may be expected from the MP of the Inner Parliamentary Constituency.
Yet to take oath but significant to note that RK Ranjan seems to have started studying where his focus as the elected representative of the people should be and this is something which can be taken note of.
Interesting to note too that most of his plans centre around Imphal River and this falls perfectly in line with the series of poems written by a Professor from Manipur University which has finished its 78th edition, albeit a different river.
The poem carried under the title, 'Cry of A Dying River' tells the story of how Nambul River has been defaced by the vagaries of man down the decades and the plans of the MP elect where Imphal River is central, speaks of the need to protect the two major rivers which run through the heart of Imphal.
The plan to construct a road on either side of the banks of Imphal River should automatically address the problem of encroachment on the river banks, the piling dirt and garbage on the river banks and go a long way in strengthening the river banks which are known to cave in during the rainy season.
Such a plan, if it materialises will go also go a long way in easing traffic snarls from Lamlong to Lilong as two wheelers and other smaller vehicles can take the river banks road between Lamlong and Lilong.
Obviously it will take time and will need funds to execute this plan, but the very fact that this is in the mind of the MP elect demonstrates that his priority is right and this is something which not every professional politicians can boast of.
Granted these are all just plans at the moment and there is nothing to guarantee that the plans will become a reality but the fact that the MP elect has spelt out such a plan is testimony that his priorities are right.
No tall promises and no assurances which may sound pleasant but which may not be practical-this is the line that RK Ranjan has adopted and it is hoped that he manages to get his plans conveyed to the Central leadership of the BJP effectively.
