Shrimati Rani Khidir Devi is born on 2nd May, 1937 at Thangmeiband Hijam Devan Leikai, Imphal.
Her parents were Hijam Amuba Singh and Aheibam Ningol Kundalei Devi.
She is the 7th wife of late Maharaja Bodhachandra and currently residing at Palace Compound, Imphal East.
From childhood, she showed keen interest in painting and embroidery works.
At the age of 24/25, she learnt the art of painting from her brother-in-law Maharajkumar Priyobrata.
Later on she continue the art under the guidance of royal gurus like Laishram Modhuchandra, H. Goura.
And she learn embroidery works from Yumnam Tolhal.
Rani Khidir Devi participated in various art and handloom exhibitions held at Imphal, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Chennai etc.
Apart from Manipur, she took to designing works of various Handloom centres of Assam and Tripura.
Rani Khidir Devi presented many of her design and handiwork images of Netaji Subashchandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Khamba na Kao Phaba, Thoibi gi Loi Okpa, and Jagoi Raas to many of the famous personalities like the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, ex Governor of Manipur O.N. Srivastav, Chintamani Panigrahi and many Chiefs of The India Army.
In 1972, Rani Khidir Devi got the Manipur State Academy Award in Painting.
And in 1973, she also got the Manipur State Academy Award for her embroidery work.
Later, Director of Industry give her the title of Master Craftsman in 1984.
Her handiwork of Raas Dance bagged her nomination for National Award.
In recognition of her contribution in the field of painting, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, on their 82nd annual meeting, conferred her the title of Kalaritu (Laiyekpa).
