PRATHAM is a large-scale citizens' initiative. It started in '93-94 in Mumbai. The objective is to bring every child to school and help every child to learn well. Today it is a network of trusts and projects working in different parts of the country. Trustees of Pratham are eminent people from industry, from government and prominent citizens.

The basic principle is to bring citizens, government and industry together to ensure universalisation of elementary education. Wherever we work, we work on scale and in a manner that can be replicated. We work with governments to strengthen schools and with communities to strengthen their ability to support their children's' learning. The funds to support Pratham come largely from Indian and multinational business- industry, from individuals in India and abroad, and to some extent also from the government.

KEY REQUIREMENTS -
Min. Education qualification - Graduates
Knowledge of English (Good verbal communication skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization)
Knowledge of Computers
Should be comfortable working with children, primary education
Extensive traveling required

HONORARIUM -
Monthly honorarium of Rs. 5,000 - 6,000/-
Mobile allowance and insurance - Rs.550/- per month
Travelling costs - On actuals
