JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POST OF RECRUITER,
DIRECT DIALOGUE, SUPPORTER CAMPAIGNS.

Greenpeace is an independent non-governmental organization. For over 37 years Greenpeace has very effectively used non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and to bring about solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future.

Greenpeace has a presence in 45 countries. In India, Greenpeace has been working on environment related problems such as the hazards of ship breaking at Alang; the dumping of mercury at Kodaikanal; the threat of genetic contamination in the form of genetically modified crops, the Bhopal gas tragedy and other struggles, which have a profound impact on India’s environment and consequently on her people.

Greenpeace does not accept donations from the government or corporates. We seek support in each country from individual citizens who are responsible for our continuing work. This has the effect of educating individual citizens about environmental issues that are likely to affect them. Globally we have close to 4 million supporters.

In India, Supporter Campaigns is currently active in fourteen cities – with an approximately 50000 Indian supporters.

Greenpeace uses "Direct Dialogue" in order to address a large number of people with a personal form of contact, asking for sustained financial support for Greenpeace.

Groups of recruiters speak to members of the public about Greenpeace in order to raise awareness and generate much needed financial support for Greenpeace India.

As a recruiter your primary responsibility will be to approach individual citizens in public places like the street, institutions, events, exhibitions etc. to make them aware about Greenpeace and it's campaigns and convince them to support Greenpeace financially. You will also play an important role in educating the public on the crucial campaigns that Greenpeace works on.

This is a full/part time job on the field based at Chandigarh.

We are looking for people who are disciplined, dynamic, not shy, who like to communicate, persistent and have a passion for protecting the environment.

Salary INR 7000 + incentive.
