Pulse Pundit performance
Think of AC/DC and you would remember electrifying live shows and guitar riffs. Think of an AC/DC Tribute Band in India, you might think there is none. You are wrong. Pulse Pundit is an AC/DC tribute band from Manipur and has been doing local circuit in Imphal and neighbouring cities since 1st Dec 2012 when it was formed.
Spearheaded by Rabi Roy Laifangbam and Nandaraj Gurumayum, Pulse Pundit is going to perform at the prestigious Hornbill International Festival 2014.
Perhaps, the very first time a Manipuri band to be invited to perform in the most popular and internationally acclaimed festival of the North East India (to perform as one of the highlighting bands on the 10th December 2014).
The band comprise of:
Ranjan Sijagurumayum - Vocal;
Nandaraj Gurumayum - Guitar;
Regit Lisham - Guitar/Vocal;
Rabi Roy Laifangbam - Bass/Vocal &
Bungo Soram - Drum/Vocal
As long time friends who first met while still in school during the late 80's in Imphal, Manipur; each member of Pulse Pundit rose to their own choice of music genres/chops and exposures.
They were scattered away at various locations pursuing different academics/professions and now they are back together as Pulse Pundit. The inception was to revive the classic Rock n’ Roll, Blues and Funk culture back in Manipur. They are indeed "Old Wine in New Bottle".
The band members are influenced by various artistes and genres. To name a few -
Steely Dan, Victor Wooten, Fourplay,
John Scofield, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker,
Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keb Mo, Jeff Beck,
AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Police, ZZ Top,
Beatles, RHCP,U2
and many more.
