President presents Award to Professor Subadani for promoting Hindi language on May 30, 2017

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has presented the Hindi Sevi Samman Award-2015 to Professor H. Subadani Devi of the Department of Hindi, Manipur University, at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 30, 2017.

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, and other dignitaries were present at the occasion. Prof. Subadani was among 26 individuals given awards by President Pranab Mukherjee at the international level for promoting Hindi language.

The awardees included Prof. Fujii Takeshi from Japan and Prof. Gabriela Nik Ilieva from USA, Prof. Pushpita Avasthi from Netherlands and Prof. Padmesh Gupta from London. The Hindi Sevi Samman award carries Rs. Five Lakh each, a Citation and a Shawl.

Prof. H. Subadani Devi is the third daughter of Late Shri H. Gokulananda Sharma of Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal, Imphal. Prof. Subadani joined the Department of Hindi, Manipur University in 1985 initially as Assistant Professor and has been a Professor since 2004. She has produced 62 number of research papers published in many prestigious Hindi research journals and 11 books.

She has also completed four major research projects funded by the Central Government. Under her research supervision, 13 candidates have obtained Ph.D. degree from Manipur University.

Prof. Subadani also won the National Award Hinditar Vashi Hindi Lekhak Samman Puruskar presented to her at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 15, 1996 by the then President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

This year Prof. Subadani has already won the "Rashtradhram Hindi Seva Samman-2016' of Rashtradhram Prakashan Limited, Lucknow for her outstanding works for promoting Hindi language as a non-Hindi speaker(Manipuri) . The Rashtradhram award carried Rs. 31,000/-, a Citation Plate, a Memento and a Shawl. Prof. Subadani has attended as Jury/Expert in many Selection/ Advisory Committees of the Government of India, Government of Manipur and many other Universities.
