Postdoctoral Scholar Position: IBS-CCES, Seoul National University
The Theory Group of Prof. Suk Bum Chung at the Center for Correlated Electron System (CCES), Institute for Basic Science (IBS), invites applications for the postdoctoral scholar position.
The Institute of Basic Science (http://www.ibs.re.kr/en/) is an ambitious new program by the South Korean Government to foster basic science research in Korea. The CCES under Director Prof. Tae Won Noh, one of the first nine selected centers, is located on the Seoul National University campus.
Candidate Profile and Responsibilities
The successful candidate should have a track record of high quality research with a Ph.D degree. We are looking for a candidate who can engage dynamically in research on topological states of matter, encompassing insulators, superconductors and semi-metals. Expertise in spin-orbit physics in oxide material or quantum field theory will be welcome.
The planned start date is August 1, 2014, although this can be flexible. We anticipate two postdoctoral level positions each with a monthly salary of the KRW equivalent of at least $3,800 (negotiable) and a housing subsidy that fully covers the rent for the in-campus postdoc housing. This is a 2-year contract position, with the contract renewed at the end of the first year.
