PhD Fellowship on Imagined Sovereignties: Frontiers of Statehood and Globalization
Contemporary expressions of Basque nationhood and current debates on sovereignty and the political implications of nationhood in the Basque country.
The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) invites applications for a three-year, full-time research position as PhD fellow. The position provides the opportunity to work in a leading international research institution with high academic standards and a cross-disciplinary environment.
This PhD fellowship is financed as part of a grant from the Research Council of Norway to PRIO for a project on “Imagined Sovereignties: Frontiers of Statehood and Globalization” led by PRIO Research Professor Åshild Kolås.
Through an investigation and comparison of three empirical cases; Northeast India, Cyprus and the Basque country, this project studies the changing conditions and spaces for exercising and demanding sovereignty in the contemporary world, and explores how sovereignty is imagined under these conditions.
A complete description of the project will be made available to interested candidates upon request.
