Parental Alienation : Poem 2
Manoj Pukhrambam *
((A series of Poems to fight against parental alienation))
I remember the first day when I took my daughter to school...
The glances we had from the other parents....
The first few steps she took while entering the school campus...
The hesitation she had, to enter the classroom...
The whole school hours which I sat inside the classroom...
With her refusing to get down my lap...
Which normally do not happen with unlucky fathers...
To surprise of teachers and the other mothers...
With her first uttering words of letters and numbers...
As she paid attention on the board and teacher...
Ah! My eyes getting soften at that moment...
Unaware of my situation, as she was innocent...
It was her first and last day in school...
For she was being taken away thereafter...
By an ill-natured wife whom she calls 'Mother'.
About the Poem: Parental Alienation is all about depriving a parent, either the father or the mother, from contacting the child/ren. But with the legal system of India realising that not only mothers, but fathers are also victims in family cases at certain times, new family law reforms in India took place and the subject of parental alienation has come into light to give equal judgement to both parents considering the child welfare and custody.
