PM Modi urged to prevent further violence in Manipur

Several human rights organisations from the North East have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, demanding that the centre prevent further violence in Manipur state by impressing upon the Government of Manipur to immediately withdraw the recently passed Protection of Manipur People Bill 2015, the Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (7th amendment) Bill 2015 and the Manipur Shops and Establishment (2nd amendment) Bill 2015.
The memo was appended by the Meghalaya Peoples’ Human Rights Council, the Indigenous Womens’ Forum of North East India, the Sinlung Indigenous Peoples’ Human Rights Organisation, the Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights, the Karbi Human Rights Watch and the Zo Indigenour Forum.
