Northeast facing acute shortage of gas
Nagaland Post | Agartala | Sep 14 (IANS)
Northeast (NE) India is facing a severe shortage of cooking gas since April after production in four Indian oil refineries in Assam was hit. Tripura food and civil supplies minister Manik Dey Friday said Indian Oil chairman R.S. Butola has informed the state government that lower production of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), and law and order problem besides flood in Assam are the key reasons behind the crisis.
An IOC official said on a monthly average there was a drop in the supply of LPG cylinders to the seven NE states by more than 600,000 cylinders against the demand of around 2,000,000 cylinders.
