Dais Members with Students participated in science activities as a part of NSD at DM Community College

The Dhanamanjuri Community College based at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal celebrated National Science Day (NSD), the 28th Feb 2020 with great enthusiasm.

The NSD celebration was attended by the Director of KAUSHAL Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, Medical Lab faculty Nonibala Ningthoujam, Digital Multimedia faculty Ksh Chitrabhanu and Food Processing faculty Syed Rukeiya as dais members.

National Science Day (NSD) is celebrated in India on February 28 every year to commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by the great Indian physicist Sir CV Raman on February 28, 1928. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for the same. This year, the theme of the National Science Day (NSD) is "Women in Science".

The basic purpose of this day is to inspire students to new experiments, attract them to science, and make them aware of science and scientific achievements.

Several programs are organized on this day related to scientific activities. Science activities by students, oral presentation of the girl students and Science Talk on women scientists are the main highlights of the day.

Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh elaborating the theme of the NSD reiterated that the College is being strengthened under the prestigious Star Scheme from 2018-19 sessions with the financial support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology for a period of 3 years (extendable to another 3 years based on performance).

Four Departments viz Medical Lab Technology, Food Processing, Radio Imaging and Digital Multimedia are being strengthened. The performance of the College for the first year of strengthening has been assessed and graded at “A” status.

“Women in Science” is also the main thrust area of the DST with which the Community College is being strengthened under the DBT STAR Scheme.

The College being a part of the DBT with this theme, is celebrating the NSD on the said theme.
