Naorem Babyrojisana Chanu and Thokchom Sanamacha Chanu who clinched gold medals at AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship 2021 in their respective categories were given a warm homecoming reception by the Mary Kom Boxing Foundation (MKBF) and their family members at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, today.
Adhering to the COVID19 protocols, a short felicitation programme was also held at the Mary Kom Boxing Academy, National Game Village, said MKBF in a statement adding that the event was attended by the staff of the academy and immediate family members of the two champions.
On the occasion, Jimmy Leivon, secretary MKBF congratulated and praised the outstanding performances of the two boxers in the championships held in Poland.
"You have made all of us proud but I am considering that this is just the beginning," said Jimmy Leivon. "We, along with your family, are looking forward to seeing you at the Olympics podiums. Therefore, let us persevere and maintain the pace with determination so that we could reach our goal without any distractions," he added.
N Robindro, father of Babyrojisana and Thokchom Bimola Devi, mother of Sanamacha thanked the foundation for all the support and guidance given to their daughters in their training and other requirements. They also pledged to keep supporting their children in pursuing their dreams.
The two champions also promised to be determined and focused on their training to achieve their dream goal- the Olympics, with the support of the foundation and their family members.
