Dr. Raghumani Ningthoujam gets Young Associate of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences :: 2010

Dr. Raghumani Singh Ningthoujam, Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai was elected as the Young Associate of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences below 40 years category for significant contributions to Chemical Sciences on 14th October, 2010. So far, he published 62 papers in journals. He did M. Sc. at Chemistry Department, Manipur University and Ph. D. at IIT Kanpur. It is given on basis of his research work on nanomaterials:
1. Development of colloidal forms and thin films of luminescence materials, which are potentially useful in life sciences, lighting, and display devices. Recently, his group has established the stability of water up to 800 °C when hexagonal structure of YPO4 is stabilized by water.
2. The magneto hyperthermia for the targeted drug delivery in cancer therapy using Induction Heating. This will reduce side effect of drug and radiation in cancer therapy.

The Academy has also organized annual "Prof. M. R. Bhiday Memorial Lecture" at 3.00 pm on October 20, 2010 (the day of AGM and induction ceremony).
This lecture will be delivered by an eminent scientist and educationist Dr. H. C. Pradhan from Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR, Mumbai, and the topic of his lecture is "Outreach and Research in Science Education: Experience of Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education." You are requested to kindly attend this lecture.
