The NSCN (IM) has said it was most
unfortunate that the “Khaplangs” never reciprocated
its gestures for peace and unity among the Nagas.
In a release issued by its Ministry of Information and
Publicity, the NSCN (IM) expressed a serious concern
on May 18 shoot out at Longsa village under Nagaland’s
Wokha district in which an NSCN (K) cadre was killed
after the NSCN (IM) was fired upon by the rival
faction.
The release further said the NSCN (IM) was committed
to bring about unity and peace and fully supported the
ongoing reconciliation Process headed by the Naga
Hoho. It said to enhance and help overcome the
obstacles, the outfit has been maintaining utmost
restraints not to go against the wishes of the people
and striving hard for better understanding and unity
among the Nagas and help pave the ways for the
Reconciliation Process.
The release, however, said the NSCN (IM) was equally
aware of any evil design that might stand as a
stumbling block to the aspiration of the Nagas.
Stating that its quest for peace should not be
construed as a sign of weakness, the release said the
NSCN (IM) should always guard against forces that
stood on its way.
It said as a confidence-building measure, the outfit
had earlier released eight NSCN (K) cadres unharmed
and later handed them over to their parents in the
presence of village elders, student unions, Lotha Hoho
and Eloe Hoho. The cadres, apprehended on different
occasions by Wokha Town Command, Naga Army, were—Nyamo
Kikon, N Zaremo, E Tsanthungo Odyo, Echambemo Murry,
Sophia, Chimchilo, Sgt Nongthung and James.
