The Controller, Immigration and Infiltration Department of the NSCN (K) has directed all persons belonging to the Muslim community, irrespective of nationality, to obtain Temporary Resident Permits (TRP) regulated by the outfit. The outfit warned that severe penalty would be imposed on those Muslims failing to comply with the directives. It however stated the directive was not intended to harass the Muslim community but to filter the Muslim immigrants in the State. It also stated that any Muslim unwilling to avail these permit was allowed to leave the State. It said the outfit was all out for ethnic cleansing and further added that responsible citizens should cooperate towards implementing this serious program without any prejudice.
Expressing concern over the increase in influx of migrants, the NSCN (K) urged upon the Assam Government to seriously take steps to check the influx and said the random issuance of indigenous certificates from the corridor districts of Assam was lending more confusion to the matter. It may be mentioned that the outfit had decided to drive out all illegal migrants, particularly Bangladeshi Muslims, from the State and had introduced the TRP in an effort to identify these illegal migrants and deport them.
