My Mother's Story

A Mother holds dearly to her child in December 2010 :: Pix - TSE
If you truly love your parents, especially your beloved mother should be wonderful blessings for your life! Our mothers are the greatest gift from God, and you are also the greatest gift from God to your mother. A mother's love for her child was so divine. No one will ever love you as your mother does. She sacrificed everything for you. I remembered the sayings, "God cannot be felt everywhere, so God made mothers to take His place" wow to JESUS. "When you were born you are the most precious gift to her. Now she grows old, is she important person to you?"
I still remember childhood story my late mother Thambem Sankhilnu, told me when I was a boy. It was about a 'mother angel'. The story of Long long ago, the 'spider' and the 'bee' were brother and sister.
When they grew up they left their mother's house and went to work in different directions. The spider in weaving and the bee worked in the fields. One day the spider was sitting by his loom, weaving a web as silky as the spring grass in the meadow. Suddenly a maybug flew in. Quick, get ready to come with me. Your mother is on her death bed. Her last wish is to see her children before she dies you and the fluffy bee. Get on my back and I'll take you very quickly, the maybug panted.
How do you know if my mother will die? She may just groan for a while, and then get better. That happened several times in the past. I can't leave my work every time for that, said the spider. 'But what shall I tell your poor mother? She's bound to ask me why you haven't come.'
Tell her that I am too busy. Anyway, mother can die quite well without me. My coming with you will not cure her sickness. And now get out and stop bothering me from doing my work, and the spider went on weaving his light silky web. The disappointed maybug flew off to find the bee.
When the bee heard that her mother was on her death bed, she fainted and the maybug had to sprinkle water over her. When she came to her senses she followed the maybug without a word. As they arrived the old woman was very glad to see her daughter sitting at her bedside.
"Thank you for coming, my daughter; may your children love you as you love me. May you live and multiply many bees. Flowers shall greet you with smile in May and the Pollen shall always be plentiful. May the people ever thank you for your honey which is the sweetest thing in the world; thus spoke mother to her daughter for abundant blessings ".
But to the spider, she said softly, 'may my son spider always live alone, and go on weaving for the rest of his life. May his labors never be of any use, never make anyone happy. Let everybody tears his web and curse the one who made it; even the nasty flies shall hate it. May my words come true'!
And ever since that time, bees have worked as one family, and people have always spoken of them with affection, for there is nothing sweeter in the world than honey. As for the spider, he sits alone in a dark corner, weaving his web. People tear the web to pieces and drive the spider away. Even the nasty flies curse him when they get caught in the web. So the old mother's words came true. What is your heart towards your mother, are you with the spider or the bee?
Late mother Thambem wasn't just my earthly mother but she was also my spiritual mother and a prayer partner. I realize later how passionately she had been praying for me to be in ministry, and that's what I am today. My father tried many times to convince me to go for Bible study but I ignore him. My mom began to pray so that God will speak to me!
There is so much to tell and so little to ignore about our mothers. One most important thing I admired about my illiterate mother was her prayer life. She once said to me that, I cannot teach you A.B.C but I will never stop praying for all of you to become successful in life. Wow…to Jesus! What a blessed mother she was!
Thanks to all the mothers on this special day.
Happy Mother's Day!
