Living in Union

To be in union with God is to touch, experience, and live in the supernatural, the realm of all-God. Even though God dwells in every dimension, humans are body, soul, and spirit. To be aware of and live in the spirit, we must realize that this realm exists. We must strive to give ourselves to Him that we too may experience the fullness of His attentions for us, in this realm of eternal life and supernatural fulfillment. Our five senses only put us in touch with the natural world, but our spirits put us in touch with the spirit realm.
In that realm we can experience Him in a way that we never dreamed possible. In the spirit realm, the Holy Spirit pours into our spirit so that we can know the plan of God, understand our role in it, and dedicate ourselves to its fulfillment.
In the natural realm, the dimension in which we live in our bodies, our soul is fed information from the five senses. It is the task of our five natural senses, to gather information from this natural realm and feed it to our soul-our mind, will, and emotions.
Your soul interprets this information and makes decisions accordingly. If you are turned only to the five senses, you only get a portion of the information you need to make decisions. That means you will miss much vital information that can only be sensed by your spirit and delivered to your soul through that spirit. The spirit realm is just as real as the natural realm. It contains vital information as to the course and function of your life. It keeps us balanced in our overall understanding of God, the universe, and our place here on earth.
If we concentrate on the input of the five senses while ignoring the input of the spirit, we become hardened to what we see from the spirit realm. We then become like a car trying to go straight ahead with one brake locked. We can only go in circles while making a lot of smoke and noise! It may look spiritual to some, but it gets us nowhere. The more naturally minded we are, the more we will be drawn to the natural realm. When this happens, the more distant and elusive the spirit realm will seem to become.
Also, the more naturally minded, or carnally minded, we become, the more the power of the flesh, along with its lusts and desires, will try to rule us. If it can’t take us over, it will certainly distract us from our goal of listening and following the Lord. Remember, the enemy doesn’t care if you give in to his temptation or spend your time and energy fighting him.
The trickster is happy as long as you are not doing the will of God. So a day in which you battle temptation and squeak through without sin is still a success for the enemy, for you were focused on the temptation, and therefore did not tap in to the supernatural resources of the realm of all-God.
YOUR MOST PRECIOUS GIFT
Your soul is where your most precious gift from God rests. That gift is your free will. It is there that the data you have received convince you to do what you do.
Many folks do not realize the powerful significance of this. God has always had people who love Him according to their own desire. Shotgun weddings seldom work in the natural, and they rarely work in the spirit. He gives us a choice to serve Him or not to serve Him. The data from the spirit are vital to the decisions we make as we seek to find and serve the Lord we love. When we focus solely on either realm, we become imbalanced and do not adequately see the entire picture.
Here is the balance from the scriptures:
All people who are being led by God’s spirit are sons of God (Romans 8:14).
An uninspired person does not receive messages from God’s spirit. To him, they are without meaning; he cannot understand them. They can only be understood in a spiritual way (ICor 2:14).
The incredible thing about God is that He saw the influence the enemy would have over their bodies. He therefore decided to take up residence within us, placing a beachhead of His Kingdom in the midst of formerly occupied territory. Remember, we were bought by Jesus, and He owns our body, soul, and spirit. He can live, occupy, and bless wherever He wants!
Surely you realize that your body is a temple sanctuary. You have received the Holy Spirit from God. The Holy Spirit is inside you-in the temple sanctuary. You don’t belong to yourselves (I Cor 6:19).
The letter of the law kills but the spirit gives life! (2 Cor 3:6).
The Spirit is “the Lord”. There is freedom wherever the spirit of the Lord is (2 Cor 3:17).
God describes Himself as “I AM” not once or twice but 1,033 times, “I AM” describes His existence in the realm of spirit. This is a place where there is no time as we know it. This spirit realm is the place of our completion. It is where Jesus went to prepare a place for us to dwell. He prepared the realm of Spirit for us, not to occasionally visit, but permanently dwell.
We are intended to dwell in, or be consciously aware of both the natural and the spiritual realm. He went to prepare a place of safety in the spirit realm. We are protected from all that dwell in this realm that opposes God. It is as though we live in an impenetrable ship in deep space. We live in the spirit, while in the spirit world.
A few scripture examples of the spirit realm follow:
Since I am leaving to prepare a place for you … (John 14:3).
And exactly where is He? He is (John 17:24) in the dimension of spirit. He is outside of time and space. He is outside the rules of physics that govern this realm. He carried the cup of His own blood to this realm of spirit. He delivered it to the throne of God, the mercy seat, your heart, where he sprinkled it pure so the Father and Son could seat themselves permanently in you. He prepared a place there for your soul to rest. It is where He counsel, His compassion, His wisdom, and His mercy are available to you. It is here that He wants us to allow Him to change our minds so we can believe, receive, and experience everything He has for us.
Enjoy your union with the spirit!
