Irom Deban Singh (Fencing Coach) and Laishram Gyanalakhsmi Devi were awarded "Lifetime Achievement" and "Eklavya Awards" respectively in Karnataka Ekalavya Sports Award for the year 2009. These are one of the most prestigious awards in Karnataka. This award was given on August 30 2010 at the Raj Bhavan, Bangalore Karnataka.

Bangalore, Aug 30 (DHNS): Vowing to do away with the inconsistency in presenting the Ekalavya awards, State Sports Minister Goolihatti D Shekhar stressed on making the ceremony an annual affair. “There has always been an inconsistency in presenting the Ekalavya awards,” Shekhar said after Governor HR Bhardwaj presented 15 athletes with the awards for the year 2009 at the Raj Bhavan on the National Sports Day here on Sunday.
Irom Debham Singh (fencing coach) and Triveni MN (judo coach) were presented with the life-time achievement awards.

Kushal Ravikumar (basketball), M S Tejkumar (chess), Savita S Goudar (cycling), Arun Maribashetty (equestrian), Bindu N (fencing), Raghuath V R (hockey), Jayanti L (Kabaddi), Srinivas M (kho kho), Madhavi Giri (swimming), Somanath S Girigowda (volleyball), Smita B Patil (wrestling), Jnana Lakshmi Devi (weightlifting) and Raghavendra Ratnakar Anvekar (handicapped swimmer), Power lifter, Shobha, and swimmer, Aaron D’Souza.
