Dear Editor,
We from MRFD are proud to inform you that the Forum in collaboration
with the Indian People's Theatre Association, JNU, New Delhi, shall be
organising the popular Manipuri Shumang lila, 'Lidicegee Gulap' of the
Sana leipak Nachom Artistes, Imphal on May 11, 2006 in Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi.
The troupe has just returned from a world tour.
And recently the play was shown at the Russian Embassy, New Delhi.
The play centres around the theme of anti-fascism. It has been
transmuted from Dr. Nara Singh's poem 'Lidicegee Gulap'.
It is based on the unforgettable event of 1942, when Hitler's Nazis destroyed the village of
Lidice in the Czechoslovakia on the fateful day of 10th June.
The massacre sent shockwaves to the entire world during the World War II.
Years later, Lidice ws rebuilt with a mass grave yard and roses from
various cpuntries were brought and planted.
A peace conference was organised at Lidice and hundreds of people came fropm many countries and paid
homage to those killed.
Yours Sincerely
Bhagat Oinam
