Kindling : A production from '2nd home-india' tour to Manipur

'Kindling' is an original new production created in India, and will tour and perform during June 2013. It is choreographed and composed by 7 female artists from around the world as part of the project '2nd home- india'. The central theme of the performance will be dealing with empowerment of the female image. Through the medium of art, they will endeavor to bring a tailwind to the arising struggle in India for women rights. This protest demands a thorough change of women perception, equality, and respect. The dancers, as a group of international independent women will take on the honor to take part of this fight, and will bring upon themselves representing a western women voice that backs up the women of India.

2nd Home-India is a non-profit artistic collaboration project, taking place in north of India in summer 2013, initiated and artistically directed by Israeli dancer and choreographer Shaked Dagan.

2nd Home – India, Manipur Chapter starts from 15th -21st June 2013. It is being supported by Manipur Skill Development Society, Government of Manipur and hosted by The Giving tree, 18th Nov Films, Gender Development Initiative, Syncronizing Senses Productions, Nachom Arts of contemporary dance, Shiyom films, For you, Women – A Facebook page dedicated to women, Warakki, Faith Home, Sangaiporou and Literal Hunks

The visiting troupe will conduct free dance workshops on gaga, contemporary, contact improvisation and also interact with Laihui Ensemble(Pena and traditional Ballad) and Huiyen Lallong to learn and imbibe the gestures, movement and sensibilities of the art forms in Manipur. On 19th June 2013, they will showcase their production, "Kindling" at Iboyaima Shanglen at 2pm. A Music jamming of acoustics will also be performed. They are accompanied by two film makers who are documenting their whole project.

Profiles of the Dancers.

1. Shaked Dagan is a 26 years old choreographer, dancer, and dance teacher. She was trained in 'Reut' and 'Vizo' schools of art, and the 'Gaaton Workshop' in Israel. She teaches 'GAGA' improvisation technique, created by Mr. Ohad Naharin choreographer of the world-known BatSheva dance company in Israel.

2. AYELET YEKUTIEL / ISRAELL Ayelet worked as a freelance dancer and in established dance companies in Israel and Europe, and has presented her choreographies in various festivals in Salzburg, Berlin, Budapest and Tel-Aviv.

3. BIRGITTE LUNDTOFT / DENMARK Birgitte was educated as a dancer at The Danish National School of Contemporary Dance in Copenhagen. She performs and collaborates in Denmark, Austria and Israel. She works with dance, voice and sound singing and she plays the piano.

4. KAERIDWYN NEWMAN / CANADA Kaeridwyn is a Canadian actor, clown, and puppeteer. She has participated in many theatrical shows as a performer, creator, producer and dramaturge. She plays the violin, sings, dances and much more!

5. MONIKA SMEKOT /POLAND | UK Monika is a dancer, choreographer, physical actress, and video artists with experience in Flamenco, Buttoh, and Bharatnatyam. She has a Masters Degree in Indian studies from the University of Krakow, and a Diploma in Hindi studied in Delhi.

6. KEREN BOSSIN / ISRAEL Keren is a singer, song-writer and composer. She plays the piano and is a graduate of the multidisciplinary singing department at 'The Music and Dance Academy, /Jerusalem'.

7. CARSON REINERS / US Carson, a dancer and choreographer from NYC, has a BA from CODARTS, NL and Anton Bruckner Uni, AU. As a dancer she has freelanced internationally and presented her choreography in USA, Holland, Austria, Spain, South Africa and Peru.
