The Northeast Welfare Association of Karnataka (NeWAK), today held a rally at the Sir K.P Puttanna Chetty Hall (Popularly Known As Bangalore Town Hall) to offer condolence to the family members (present during the rally) of Late Nido Tania, the teenager from Arunachal Pradesh who was brutally mobbed and lynched in Delhi recently leading to his death.

In a show of absolute solidarity, office bearers of NeWAK along with numerous people from the Northeast, present in Bangalore, gathered at the Town Hall Premises and put in place the following demands :-
(1) Justice for Late Nido Tania for being a victim of racism and lunch mob leading to his sad, tragic and unfortunate death in Delhi
(2) The case of Nido, should be put in a fast track court so that there is no delay in meeting out justice to the perpetrators of this hate crime in the capital of India
(3) A judicial probe into the way police handled the entire incident especially regarding the utter insensitivity and the lacklustre attitude of Delhi Police officials who left him back at the scene of crime.

NeWAK is also starting a signature campaign for ensuring justice for Nido Tania, the petition ‘Justice for Nido Tania’, will be handed over to honourable President of India very soon after it is signed by people from Northeast & Karnataka present in Karnataka.

Besides the above, NeWAK is also going to take up the a long term cause of lack of awareness and complete ignorance amongst mainstream India when it comes to anything or in many case everything regarding Northeast India. The fact that there has been a huge contribution from Northeast towards India’s Freedom Struggle is something which most mainstream people are completely unaware of and as a result there is total insensitivity and understanding regarding the Northeast. even history books in Indian schools does not mention anything with regards to the Northeast.

However, the focus of NeWAK, as of now remains meeting out justice for Late Nido Tania. This case will be pursued relentlessly till justice is done and the culprits are booked for good with the harshest of punishment as per the provisions of the law.
