India-Vietnam Film Show 2018 at Delhi on July 10th 2018
Centre for Vietnam Studies in association with Embassy of Socialist Republic of Vietnam organized a Vietnamese Film Screening on 10th July, 2018.
The India-Vietnam Film Show is an initiative by the Centre for Vietnam Studies to enhance the Cultural Relations and People to People Exchanges between India and Vietnam. This is a step to successfully tie both the countries much stronger in relation by the means of art and culture, through films and television. Indian Film Festivals were earlier organized in different cities of Vietnam as part of celebrating diplomatic relations and establishing strategic partnership.
The inaugural speakers for this occasion wereH. E. Ton Sinh Thanh, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Shri Ashok Tyagi, Secretary General of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry (ICMEI). The event was attended by scholars, academics and media persons.
On this occasion, the film Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass (Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh) was screened. The film is based on Nguyễn Nhật Ánh's award-winning book. The adaptation is pure poetry, telling a breathtakingly beautiful tale of childhood, innocence, and brotherhood.
H. E. Ton Sinh Thanh, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in his Special Address highlighted that the film Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass was one of Vietnam's finest movies, which has also been acknowledged internationally. He also stressed on the fact that the Centre for Vietnam Studies aims at developing cultural exchanges between India and Vietnam and looks forward to more film operations between the two nations.
Special remarks were made by Shri Ashok Tyagi, Secretary General of International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), who was of the view that films are the best vehicles to share art and culture among countries all across the world. Mr. Tyagi stressed on how ICMEI aims to unite the world through art and culture.
Dr. Ash Narain Roy, Director of Institute of Social Sciences, congratulated the Centre for Vietnam Studies for touching another dimension in promoting India-Vietnam Ties by holding the India Vietnam Film Show, 2018. Dr. Roy also mentioned how films and movies in both post-independent India and Vietnam focused on nation-building and their struggle for liberation. Therefore, films being an integral part of culture, it is one of the most appropriate ways to spread ones cultural views and exchanges.
Dr. Sonu Trivedi, Honorary Director of Centre for Vietnam Studies, New Delhi, focused on boosting cultural diplomacy by way of promoting films and entertainment industry between the two countries.

About the Centre of Vietnam Studies:
Centre for Vietnam Studies, New Delhi, India established after its announcement by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam H. E. Tran Dai Quang on 4th March 2018 during his Special Address at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi seeks to provide a platform for the scholars to engage in the past, present and future of India-Vietnam relations.
