The Nagaland Doctors' Association
(NDA) was shocked to learn about the "unfortunate,
unwarranted and unpleasant" incident that took place
at Dr Imkongliba Memorial Hospital, Mokokchung on July
24 last.
In a statement, NDA President Dr P Ngully and General
Secretary Dr J Chase said, "If heroics are to be
staged at hospitals, they should be sacrificial ones,
like donating blood and other organs, daring deeds of
charity, keeping up vigil, encouragement, empathy and
the likes instead of vainly boasting, threatening and
intimidation".
The two leaders said hospitals were not places for
settling scores or passing judgment not for giving out
pieces of anybody's mind, but for ameliorating
sickness and sufferings. It said sanctity of the
hospital should be respected at all times and
differences be settled elsewhere in whatever manner
best suited.
Regretting the incident in "very strong terms", the
Association sincerely hoped that such barbaric
incident never ever happen again, anywhere.
The Association also fully supported its members for
taking such a step to deter people from such
misdemeanors.
