High Power Delegates of BJP, Manipur at Delhi
Camp: New Delhi, 18th June, 2014
A high power delegate of BJP, Manipur Pradesh led by Shri Th.Chaoba Singh, President, BJP, Manipur Pradesh along with Shri M. Asnikumar Singh, and Shri Laimayum Bashanta Sharma, both State General Secretaries have submitted a brief report on the prolong defunct of State Information Commission and Manipur State Human Rights Commission through the officials of PMO office.
A similar report has also submitted through the Ministry of Union Home Ministry. The team had also submitted a proposal for strengthening the Judiciary System in Manipur by giving more empowerment. The State delegate would call on the Prime Minister and Home Minister where certain issues of Manipur would categorically be discussed at length within a couple of days.
The delegate also called on the Union Minister for Agriculture, Shri Radha Mohon and high ranking officials of the Ministry in his office chamber .The meeting lasted for over an hour and evoked to be fruitful.
The delegate did press hard the Minster on many areas of Agriculture and allied sectors which are yet to be equipped with many modern technologies on 17th June 2014. The delegate also submitted an elaborate proposal for improvement of agricultural and its allied activities in the state to meet the growing demand of the State.
Some of the points placed before the Union Minister for Agriculture are
( 1) Opening of a new Central Agricultural College in rural area of Manipur under the CAU, Iroisemba to be equipped with the latest modern state of arts facilities and infrastructure.
(2) ) facilitation of proper irrigation system in both hill and valley area in Manipur on priority
(3) All the existing KVK centres in Manipur to be upgraded and strengthen and demand for opening more KVK centres in Manipur.
(4) Demand for special occupational rehabilitation package for 777 displaced fishermen of Loktak Lake which was evicted by State Government in 2011. Demand for special financial package for dependent fishermen of loktak lake in consultation with All Loktak Lake Area Fishermen Union.
(5) Extensive horticulture development scheme in Hill areas in Manipur through community participation.
In what can be considered as an eventful appointment with Union Agriculture Minister was that the Minster himself assured to open a Central Agriculture College in a suitable rural area of Manipur. A formal announcement will be made soon in front of the State delegate.
(6) The delegate met Shri Prakash Javedkar Union Ministe for Environment and Forest on 17th June 2014 in his office Chamber. There had been a hectic discussion on ecological crisis due to the adverse impact of the Loktak Hydral Priject commissioned by NHPC, which had seriously affected the cradle of bio diversity and ecology of Loktak lake . The discussion also emphasized on and impact on social Cultural life of those dependents on the lake.
The team further demanded to cause a post environmental impact assessment on Loktak Hydel Prject by a high power expert committee under the Union Environment and Forest Ministry. Ii was also requested to Minister to re-examine the Loktak Protection Act 2006 so that the natural eco system of the Loktak lake could restore in its natural form and more significantly the affected and dependent people of Loktak may be given a new lease of life through such humanitarian act. The Minister patiently listened to the visiting delegate’s charter of demands and assured to do the needful.
The team is expecting to call on various Ministers and High level officials of different Ministries to plead the core issues Manipur facing today.
