Shri GURUMAYUM BISESHWOR SHARMA
Thang-Ta exponent Gurumayum Biseshwor Sharma honoured with the Youth Icon Award 2016 held at the auditorium of Azad Bhavan, New Delhi on January 12 2016 by Youth Pathshala Foundation supported by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
Born on 15th February, 1983; Shri Gurumayum Biseshwor Sharma is a Cultural Guru in the field of Manipuri Martial Arts called Thang-Ta : the Performing art of Swords and Spears.
Son of Late Padma Shri Gurumayum Gourakishor Sharma- the first recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademy Award from Manipur and also Rabindranath Tagore Fellow who transformed this fierce Martial Art into a Performing art; Shri Biseshwor Sharma ji has travelled the nook and corner of the country as well as the world to preserve, perform and promote his art form.
At the age of 32 years, in the past 25 years, he has performed in over 500 events within the country and in more than 30 countries of the world which include - USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmaar, Dubai, Bangladesh, Algeria, Ager etc.
From his Childhood he has recieved all the Scholarships awarded by different Cultural departments of the Govt. of Manipur as well as the Govt. of India.

These include-
1) Young Talent Scholarship from CCRT - New Delhi in 1993
2) Young Scholarship from Ministry of Culture - Govt. of India in 2003
3) Young Talent Award from North East Zonal Cultural Centre - Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 2008.
4) Junior Fellowship from Ministry of Culture - Govt. of India 2011.
5) Babu Jagjivan Ram Rashtriya Samman Padak in 2012
5) Manipur State Kala Akademi - Young Talent Award in 2014.
Presently he is
1) One of the Youngest Expert Committee Member in the Ministry of Culture - Govt. of India
2) A Visiting Faculty at the National School of Drama - New Delhi.
3) Expert Committee Member - Text Book Syllabus Committee of Thang-Ta in the Council of Higher Secondary Education - Manipur.
2) Secretary of one of the oldest and most reputed Cultural Organization of Manipur, established by his father in the year 1958 - the Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association.
