Greeting to the Khoibu Community on Haichingbawng
Manipur Student Association Delhi
Whishes a very happy and peaceful
“ Haichingbawng”
Manipur, with 35 officially recognized communities possessing respectively distinctive cultural markers, is a land of festivals and fairs conquering almost every month of the lunar calendar. This October is the month of UIPO (Khoibu) community with its festival Haichingbawng on the coming full moon of 29th October, 2012.
Haichingbawng festival is the pre-harvest festival in which young girls (virgins) come out under the full moon to perform the Haichingbawng Dance. The girls, attired in all traditional costumes and ornaments, imitate the paddy plants being swayed by the soft autumn breeze.
MSAD wishes a grant success to UIPO (KHOIBU) STUDENT UNION, DELHI (KSUD) in leading the Haichingbawng festival in Delhi. The association further hopes that the festival will help the UIPOS and Manipur in bringing all the needs for a bright future, peace and harmony of the nation.
And last, but not the least, MSAD, on behalf of all the Manipuri students, wishes all the Uipos a very peaceful and happy Haichingbawng.
Hail high Haichingbawng
Long live Khoibu community
