Vocational (skill) training and enterprise development:
Sampark is committed to facilitate the setting up of micro-enterprises which are completely owned by people. Various institutions have tied up sampark for providing support for micro-enterprises to earn better livelihoods.
The primary objectives of this activity is to provide market oriented skills and vocational training to women and youth in the villages of koppal taluk and encourage them to start their own enterprises to earn better livelihoods.
Prior to the commencement of any training, women or youth are motivated to become entrepreneurs in their own or neighboring villages. Then, the participants are trained in business idea generation and facilitated in the process to identify a feasible activity or product for their skill training.
Once the training is completed, the participants usually do sample products and collect market opinion on them. Then, they are asked to start production of the product based on the demand estimated.
After completion,sampark conducts follow up activities through case studies on successful entrepreneurs .this helps sampark to motivate others to become self-reliant through starting enterprises.
Skill training: Depending upon the need of the youth and the women,sampark organized skill training programmes in different sectors like
- Tailoring,
- Beautician,
- Computer,
- Mobile Repairing,
- Driving ,
- Scrubber,
- Candle Making,
- Detergent Powder ,
- Electrical Training,
- Bamboo Craft and
- Wood Carving.
1. Employment opportunity:
- Tailoring: several women who completed training got jobs in a factory which stitches blouses
- Computer training: people who got computer training now are working in computer centres.
Tailoring: most of the women who have completed training purchased machines by taking loan from clusters and are now doing stitching work in their own village
3) Beauty parlour: women who were trained in beauty parlour now operating beauty parlour from their homes and some are working in beauty parlour centres.
4) Detergent powder: women were trained in making detergent powder and also on packaging, costing and pricing, helped them develop their own brand. After completion of the training, women have started producing and selling detergent powder.
Design and technical workshop on bamboo craft and wood carving craft:
Sampark conducted design development workshop for bamboo and wood carving where skilled artisan attended the workshop and learnt the different design and product diversification with support of designer from reputed design institutes. The workshop aimed at designing new products which will suit both bigger cities and local market.
