President Droupadi Murmu has presented the Florence Nightingale Award 2021 to three nurses from Manipur today.

The three women who have been given the award are Wairokpam Hemabati Devi, Thaimei Sanahanbi and Takhellambam Helena Devi.

Wairokpam Hemabati Devi was selected for the award in the LHV category.

Thaimei Sanahanbi was conferred with the award under ANM category.

Takhellambam Helena Devi was selected for the award in the Nurse category.

They were among 51 professionals who received the award at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. The awards were presented in recognition for their works by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India.

Now District Health Nursing Officer at District Hospital Kakching, Wairokpam Hemabati Devi, then Female Health Supervisor at Lilong Primary Health Centre, has served people in her professional capacity for more than three decades with great dedication, commitment, enthusiasm, compassion and professionalism.

She has also implemented various National health programmes at various places in Manipur, which are hard to reach. As a real Covid warrior, she took great part in fighting the pandemic along with others.

The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in the year 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.

President of India Droupadi Murmu present ed the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2.021 to nursing professionals of the country during an awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Dwlhi on Monday. Among the 51 recipients of the awards, three are from Manipur namely Thaimei Sanahanbi (ANM), Wairokpam Hemabati Devi (LHV) and Takhellambam Helena Devi (Nurse) .

Apart from the trio, Dr Puyam Alsa Sanatombi of Manipal College of Nursing, Karnataka was also conferred the Florence Nightingale award. Dr Puyam Alsa Sanatombi is currently working as professor and QMR of the department of medical surgical nursing at Manipal College of Nursing.

The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in the year 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as a mark of recognition of the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.

Expressing happiness over conferment of Florence Nightingale awards, President Droupadi said on her twitter account that courage of nurses and nursing professionals of the world were showcased during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said that nurses and nursing professionals of the country sidelined their families and rendered their invaluable service to the people with dedication during the pandemic. She also said that presentation of Florence Nightingale awards will be an inspiration to young nurses.
