Cry Of A Dying River...47
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that rejuvenates with clouds
The silver lining of cloudy clouds
That beauty fragile beauty of clouds
That sound rumbling sound of clouds
That sight sendulous sight of shining clouds
That passage transient passage of clouds
Oh clouds! Be the flowers in the endless sky
Oh clouds! Majestic clouds! Be the birds in the open sky
"The clouds –the only birds that never sleeps" (V Hugo)
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that reigns when the monsoon rain rains
Rain that falls on everything under the sun
Rain that rinses the body and the soul
Rain that cleanses the dirt and the dust
Rain that wipes out garbage litters trash
From the lanes and streets of 'Sanaleibak'
Rain that cools the heat down
Monsoon rain that livens up the riverine eco-system
The river that dotes on the sweetness of a drizzle.
