The former President of the Nagaland State Unit of BJP and BJP National Executive Member, NC Zeliang alleged that "the Congress (I) had close relation with the culprits of Godhra carnage".
Zeliang said the victims of February 27 incident in Godhra in Gujarat were mostly VHP volunteers who were returning from Ayodhya with their family members after participating in a religious ceremony for the construction of Ram mandir. At least 58 people including 25 women and 14 children were burnt alive and many were injured when the Ahmedabad Express was stoned and set afire by a mob near Godhra on February 27. But neither Sonia Gandhi nor any State Congress leader deplored Godhra incident but they simply criticized the reaction of Gujarat to this tragedy, Zeliang added.
Stating that there was a suspicion that the notorious ISI of Pakistan was behind the despicable Godhra carnage, Zeliang said there was a systematic pattern of series of events like Kargil, hijacking of Indian passenger plane, attack on Indian Parliament and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, capture of RDX and other weapons at various places and series of bomb blasts in different places of the country.
The former Nagaland BJP President regretted that anti-Hindu secularists were busy in getting political mileage out of the entire unfortunate incidents, while the entire Hindu society was experiencing the pain of Godhra tragedy.
"The history thereafter is in front of us", Zelaing said. "The deaths of February 27 at Godhra were not deaths and incident and deaths after February 27 are only deaths?"
The SIMI leader from Bihar after he was arrested had confessed that the plan was not only Gujarat but they also planned to create riots in the entire country. This banned SIMI had a central network operating from Godhra, Zelaing disclosed. On the other hand BJP in Gujarat is becoming popular because of its positive and progressive approach and this trend gave restless to the oppositions especially the Congress (I) and this so-called secular element are bent upon creating the worst picture and pose on BJP, the BJP leader stated.
He said Congress (I) did not miss any opportunity during the conflict between the Adivasis and
Christians, which were very small incident and nobody was killed and not even admitted in hospital. And Congress (I) tried to paint wrong picture of the BJP in the whole world.
Stating that at a time when the armies of India and Pakistan are facing each other eyeball to eyeball on borders, it is the duty of the Government and citizens alike not to do anything that would weaken "our national unity", Zeliang called upon the political parties irrespective of their ideological differences to work for protecting the security and integrity of the country and the national self-respect.
Zeliang further said it should be the responsibility of both the communities in the country to find out the root cause of the unfortunate incident and put forward answers in front of the society. The maturity of Indian society would be judged not by blaming one another but by learning from what has happened in Gujarat so that such incidents do not repeat, he added.
