Subject: Complaint against Junior of Amod Kumar Singh, Advocate, who made racial discrimination against Ms. Vinika Kiho outside the court room, precise time between 10:15 AM to 10:45 AM on 04.02.2016.

Sir,

I, Vinika Kiho, Advocate, working with Human Rights Law Network, enrolled with Delhi Bar Council, wish to register my complaint regarding racial discrimination, verbal slur meted out to me in Saket Court premises. The Advocate commented about my facial features and specifically about my eyes. I am from Nagaland, belonging to ST category and the comments were made regarding my distinct facial features “Inki aankhon to dekho” “Inka chehra dekho” “Yeh log kuch nahi kar sakte hai” and other discriminatory statements and mocked at me, made fun. He made fun of me being an Advocate and a lady being in this profession. I told him that I'll make a complaint about you to which he responded by laughing and making faces, he dared me by saying “Jo karna hai karlo.” and he refused to state his name when asked for. His photograph has also been clicked by me as evidence to track down his details, which is on record with me on my mobile phone.

Making racial rumors against any person belonging to SC or ST category is a criminal offense, specifically mentioned under section 3 of the said Act and also under the Indian Penal Code.

Such kind of remarks from an Advocate against a lady Advocate should be condemned and strict action should be initiated against the offender so that such offenses are not repeated in the near future.

Taking into account the grievances mentioned above, please take cognizance and strict action against the offender Advocate, either suspend his license to practice or terminate him from this profession, so that it can set an example and precedent to avoid such incidents of racial discrimination in the future.

The name of the offender has not been disclosed. However it has come to my knowledge that he practices under an Advocate with the name Advocate Amod Kumar Singh, Chamber No. 217 of Lawyer's chamber, Saket. Kindly confirm the same.
