Common Entrance Test for Admission to Post Graduate Medical and Dental Courses (COMEDK PGET AND Uni-GAUGE PGMD) for the academic year 2016 goes online Computer based all India test across 60 cities including Guwahati and Shillong to benefit students in saving time and money in travel and accommodation

COMEDK is the “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” to determine the merit of students through a fair, transparent and reliable testing procedure for admission to member institutions of Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association. COMEDK will be conducting Post Graduate Entrance Test 2016 (PGET – 2016) on 17/01/2016 for about 600 “Institutional seats”. This is for admission to post graduate programs during the academic year 2016-17.

This exam will be an ONLINE COMPUTER BASED TEST. It will be conducted at more than 60 cities across India including Guwahati and Shillong on Sunday the 17th January 2016. (Please note that in earlier years examination was conducted only in Karnataka). Now, a computer based all India test, will offer benefits to students in saving time and money in travel and accommodation. This will be a single session exam of THREE hours – with 180 multiple choice questions (MCQ) each carrying ONE mark. There will be a separate test for each of the Medical & Dental streams held simultaneously.

12 Medical and 20 Dental Colleges who are members of the association admit students for post-graduate programs through PGET-2016. COMEDK has engaged the services of ERA Foundation to conduct PGET-2016. ERA Foundation is a not-for-profit company registered under Section-25 of the Companies Act. It is established with the objective of setting up a common platform for assessment of students for admission to Private/Deemed Universities and Institutions providing higher education in India. ERA Foundation conducts Uni-GAUGE PGMD for admission to post-graduate programs in medical and dental universities.

With the partnership between COMEDK and ERA Foundation, the students seeking admission to post graduate studies in Medical and Dental courses for the academic year 2016-17 can write one examination and either appear for counseling for admission conducted by COMEDK for its member institutions or apply directly to the Private/Deemed Universities that accept Uni-GAUGE scores. In other words, COMEDK-PGET-2016 and Uni-GAUGE PGMD 2016 will be just one exam that enables students to seek admission to number of institutions.

COMEDK, as in previous years, will conduct the ‘Single window counseling’ following the exams for the member colleges. Candidates can utilize Uni-GAUGE PGMD 2016 scores to apply for admission to universities (See Appendix)

ABOUT COMEDK:

The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavor to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK). COMEDK is the “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” to determine the merit of students in an effective, fair, transparent and testing procedure. Presently 12 Medical and 19 Dental colleges, who make available almost 600 “Institutional seats”, are affiliated to COMEDK and utilize its testing mechanism for effecting admission to PG Program during the academic year 2016-17.

ABOUT ERA FOUNDATION:

Education Rating and Assessment Foundation (ERA) is a not –for-profit organization pioneering in educational reforms in India. It has an autonomous Board of Governors that oversee the assessment methodology, design and administration. It is Chaired by Mr. Ranganath, Former Chief Secy. Government of Karnataka & non-executive chairman of IFCI, and comprises of Mr. KRS Murthy - Former Director(IIM-B), Professor Samir Brahmachari-Former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Professor Arun Nigavekar - Former Chairman of UGC, Dr A Gnanam- former Vice Chancellor of Bharathidasan, Madras and Pondicherry Universities.
