The Council of Naga Baptist Churches
(CNBC) has said the process of reconciliation as
envisioned by the Naga Hoho and the Naga Churches
should not only be appreciated and supported but also
agreed to by all Nagas.
In a representation to the collective leadership of
the NSCN (IM) Isak Chsishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah
in a recent Naga Consultation meeting at Bangkok, held
from May 5-10, the CNBC said the vision it has was to
bring together all the Naga Churches under one
umbrella in order to participate in the mission of God
with greater vision and participation.
The Council also said they were at a crucial moment of
history today to determine the fate of their future
adding it would be ‘costly to dwell on the past
without making any effort to learn from the past
mistakes. Emphasizing the bond of dearness in every
Naga, the Council has called upon the Nagas to
continue to assert their “oneness as a people and
nation”.
It said their tribal or language differences were
divinely providential to be deemed as assets rather
than liabilities and further added that Naga nation
has one common goal and destiny, one common purpose
and common enemy, one common battle and common
struggle. The Council called upon the Naga people to
forget their differences and also forgive the past
mistakes and be reconciled to the realities of their
situation.
The Council also said Nagas were tired of continued
violence, bloodshed, fears and tears and urged upon
them to stop all kinds of hostilities and violence. It
stated that without peace and unity, there could be no
real victory or solution.
The Council also opined that whatever the Government
of India has committed to any Naga group for the
Indo-Naga political settlement, unless all Nagas
national workers were taken into confidence and
included in the talk with equal footing, there could
be no final political settlement.
The Council urged
upon all Naga national workers to come forward for a
serious process of consultation with a view to form a
common platform for final political settlement.
