CM Ibobi formally inaugurated Jiribam District

Inauguration of Jiribam District by Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi on 14 December 2016

The Chief Minister of Manipur Okram. Ibobi Singh formally inaugurated Jiribam District by unveiling the plaque today at around 11 A.M at DC office Chingdong Leikai (Patchao), Jiribam in presence of his Ministerial colleagues Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam; Revenue Minister I. Hemochandra Singh; Local MLA of Jiribam Th. Debendra Singh.

After the unveiling plaque, the inaugural function was held at the DC complex where Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei, Revenue Minister I. Hemochandra Singh, Minister of Commerce & Industries, Sericulture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Govindas Konthoujam and Local MLA of Jiribam Th. Debendra Singh shared the dais as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.

At the onset, the welcome address of the function was delivered by D C of Jiribam District Dr. Harmit Singh Pahuja.

Addressing the public gathering, the local MLA of Jiribam Th. Debendra Singh said that it is the historic moments today Jiribam was formally inaugurated as a District as well as on the behalf of the people of Jiribam he has shown reverence to the Chief Minister of Manipur for his role to create Jiribam as a District. He also appealed to the people of Jiribam of all communities to unitedly make a Jiribam District as one of the most peace and harmonious district.

Debandra also said that Manbadur Road ( J.T) road is the life line of Jiribam whereas the condition of the road was so worsen that it could not be maintained properly by the MLA fund except to mend the poteholes so he appealed to the Chief Minister of Manipur who was also on the dais as a functional Chief Guest for sanctioning some additional funds for the improvement of Manbadur Road. Meanwhile he also appealed to the CM for the Sub-divisional office and HSLC examination center at Borobekra.

Thereafter, the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Gaikhangam said Jiribam is a door or gateway of Manipur and all the pros and cons of Manipur will faced by Jiribam at first and also its very important place geographically and its look like a mini India where different communities peoples are living together with much love and affection.

He added that Jiribam faced much inconvenience by official files correspondence before it declare as a district, as Jiribam was earlier under Imphal East District by crossing two district at the middle for which to get rid from all the inconvenience of official correspondence by the people, Jiribam need to declared status of District and today the dream of Jiribam come to be reality due to collective efforts of O. Ibobi led present government of Manipur.

Gaikhangam also said declaring district was not for political mileage of the government, it was well settle decision of government after 4 decades, purely for the administrative convenience. He appealed to all to stop bandh and blockade on NH-37 and NH-2, as it was against the will of nationality. “Instead, Let us built up new well develop Manipur by taking part in the developmental race of the world”, Dy. CM added.

Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh addressing the public gathering said that many people think the government takes decision lately, however the government need to ponders on the favourable and unfavourable things before it reach to any final decision as Manipur is a democratic land and the government have to think the grievances of the communities and it is the objectives of the government for the permanent solution of any problem be it Jiribam or other place of Manipur.

He added, that his government wants permanent solution of any problem without bloodshed and enmity. He also said that Jiribam district is not for any particular community, it is for all the peoples of all communities of Jiribam.

Thereafter, Ibobi assured to open fire sub-station at Borobekra as the fire tender from Jiribam could not reach the Borobekra sub-division in time as well as also assured to introduce the HSLC examination center at Boro Bekra Higher Secondary School for the convenience of the students of newly created Boro Bekra sub-division. “Recently declaration of 7 districts in Manipur by his government is not for any political mileage, it was absolutely on the basis of administrative conveniences”. Ibobi Added.
