Nupigee Punsi - Book release programme with Social Activist Arambam(o) Robita Devi on 24th March 2013
Manipur Students' Association Delhi organised an interaction cum release of the journal titled "Nupigee Punsi" published by the Young Women Health Organisation (YWHO) on 24th March 2013 at Arts Faculty, Delhi University.
Founder of the YWHO and editor of the journal Ms Arambam(o) Robita Devi, students from different universities in Delhi and activists attended the programme.
It is worth mentioning that Editor Robita is an activist who fights against crimes on women. The April 2013 issue of the journal "Nupigee Punsi", jointly released by the editor and MSAD members deals with the cases concerning domestic violence, rape, atrocity and other crimes on women. The interaction had lengthy discussion on about the root cause of such crimes.
Many traced the origin of the crime in the patriarchal system that is deeply structured under the neo-liberal political economy of Manipur.
Many expressed the view that although moral and legal initiatives are essential for the immediate issues concerning the victims there is a need for a people’s movement to change the neo-liberal system for the emancipation of women from inequality and injustice.
MSAD extended solidarity to the fight against crimes on women as it is a genuine democratic issue.
MSAD applauded the initiative taken up by activists for the interest of women and their rightful position in the society.
