Award for Environmental Journalist in the Northeast

Submissions for The Northeast Go Green Journalism Award 2013 are open for environmental reporters ranging from junior to mid-level journalists in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Desiring applicants must submit online a detailed CV alongwith four samples of their original work (print, radio, television, online, photographic, or a combination of all), preferably carried out between 2011 to 2013 and any other material to prove long term commitment for environmental journalism and consistency in environmental reporting.
The reports can be in any of the languages in the region. Vernacular reports should be translated to English for convenience of the judges. Each print article should not be longer than 1,500 words.Any audio or video report must be of 15 minutes duration. Longer reports should be reduced to 15 minutes for submission. English voice-overs or sub-titles should be added in case of non-English reports.Photo stories should have at least 8 photographs (max. 15) with accompanying text and captions.

The award will be presented on the occasion of the World Environment Day on June 5, 2013.
A jury of experts including environmentalists, senior journalists, anthropologists and researchers will select one from the 10 finalists for the award. The award is an effort to encourage environmental reporting and honor reportage that has made significant impact on environmental issues of the region.
The award aims to emphasize the role of journalists in strengthening democracy and freedom of the press while reporting on environment. The award is an initiative of Assam Times, a new media collective.
