ASSAM RIFLES FOILS PLANS OF NSCN FACTIONS TO DISRUPT PEACE IN TUENSANG AND NOKSEN AHEAD OF BY-ELECTION
Based on specific intelligence regarding presence of armed UGs in Tuensang town an operation was launched by troops of 23 Assam Rifles alongwith two representatives of Nagaland Police in the early hours of 26 Aug 13. The operation led to apprehension of Ten cadres of NSCN(KK) and four cadres of NSCN (K) along with recovery of a huge quantity of arm, ammunitions, explosives and incriminating documents.
A total of eleven weapons, 337 rounds of ammuniti8on and Rs. 1.66 lakhs of fake currency notes were recovered apart from large quantity of other warlike stores such radio sets and tax collection receipts etc.
As per the information received,m these cadres under SS Maj Omnang Chang of NSCN(KK), Tuensang Dist commander and cadres of NSCN(K) under Chairman Chang Region Imlongnukshi Chang S/o Shokomong Chang were involved in extortion, illegal tax collection and recruitment of youth in Tuensang Dist. I t has also been reported that these cadres were also planning to cause disturbance in the gnereal area in view of the by-election of Noksen constituency scheduled on 04 Sep 2013.
The apprehension of the cadres is a huge blow to the two factions trying to strengthen their position in the region and has preempted the plans of the two factions to disrupt the preparations for the forthcoming by-election in Noksen.
The proactive operation launched by the battalion in view of the scheduled by-elections for the Noksen constituency has averted the possibility of likely IFC/IFK between the factions as also imposed caution on their plans of disturbing peaceful conduct of the elections. The recovery of Rs. 1.66 lakhs worth of fake currency notes from NSCN(KK) is indeed a matter of serious concern and need to be further investigated. The above mentioned cadres were later handed over to the Tuensang Police.
21 ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS NSCN (KK) CADRES
Foiling a possible bid by cadres of NSCN (Khole- Khitovi) faction in disturbing the peace and harmony in the region of Zunheboto district. 21 Assam Rifles apprehended two NSCN (Khole Khitovi) cadres from Old Natha village, Zunheboto district while they were carrying arms, ammunition and other warlike stores in the public place grossly violating Cease Fire Ground Rules. 21 Assam Rifles in their continuous efforts yet again averted a major plot of inter factional clash in Zunheboto Town.
ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS NSCN (IM) CADRE
Based on a specific tip off, 29 Assam Rifles under HQ 6 Sector AR/HQ IGAR (N) launched a joint search operation along with Nagaland Police on 25 Aug 13 and apprehended an armed UG cadre of NSCN (IM). The cadre has been identified as David Lea, r/o, Phek, one 7.65mm pistol with Magazine and live rounds were recovered on him.
On questioning the cadre revealed that he is the Dimapur town area supervisor of UT-1 region. The cadre alongwith the recoveries was handed over to the East
P olice Station, Dimapur.
NNC/FGN CADRE APPREHENDED BY ASSAM RIFLES
On 24 Aug 13, troops of 29 Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police apprehended a NNC/FGN cadre named Nogen Mech, from Naharbari, Dimapaur. The cadre was caught with three pistols of 7.65mm, one pistol of 9mm, six magazines of 7.65mm, two magazines of 9 mm, live rounds and one damaged hand grenade.
The apprehendee along with recovered weapons and ammunition was later handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur.
